The library offers a welcoming environment to all learners and the wider school community. It is open daily from 8:15am to 3:15pm Monday to Friday. We also welcome learners at both lunch breaks for games, reading and borrowing.
Before school learners may read, borrow books or bring in their iPad to work on homework tasks. Parents are also welcome before school. We are happy to sign up parents as borrowers to enjoy access to the collection.
The library is staffed by a qualified Teacher-Librarian Monday to Friday (Ms Edwards) and a teacher-aide who assists with circulation desk and book processing. We always welcome volunteers to help with book covering and other tasks throughout the year.
The library is well resourced with an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction resources. We also offer access to e-library services: the Education Qld eBook library, Britannica School and Storybox library.
Scholastic Book Club and Book Fairs are held throughout the year. The school receives a commission from these which allows us to purchase new books and resources.
Cosmo, the library dog, is a regular visitor to the library. He usually visits one or two days a week. Cosmo is a Labradoodle/Moodle cross and has a non-shedding coat. He enjoys listening to children read to him, and enjoys curling up in his favourite chair during lessons.
All classes from Prep to Year 4 visit the library weekly and participate in teaching units of work, incorporating digital and information literacy, research and note-taking and book study.
Senior classes visit fortnightly to borrow books.
Library captains and buddies (“monitors") are on hand every lunch break to assist younger learners, help with circulation desk enquiries and shelving.
