Core business is about quality learning outcomes for all students from Prep to Year 6. ICT’s are tools for helping kids achieve these outcomes and for preparing our kids for an “information and digital society”. These tools will help engage and motivate these multi-sensory learners to become creative, innovative, communicative and expressive.

As teachers, we are competing daily with a multimedia-rich world that targets kids. The emphasis should never be on mastering specific software, but should remain focussed on using a variety of software applications combined with computer hardware to achieve a real-life or life-like learning outcome.

Computers are not a separate, stand-alone subject, nor are they the sole learning and teaching resource in our school and, they are only one small component of the Technology KLA. There will be a variety of issues, problems, new learnings and decisions needed as we progress the use of ICT’s at Jamboree Heights State School, but the global perspective is that we are disadvantaging our kids by not actively progressing this aspect of their schooling and enabling them contemporary life skills.

As professionals we are all role models for life-long learning and advancing this aspect of schooling should be an exciting and worthwhile experience for all concerned.

Our school has made a strong commitment to ICT's for Learning through the following acquisitions:

  • Intercative Whiteboards in all classrooms
  • Class sets of iPads
  • Laptops for all teachers
  • Employment of a computer technician
  • Computer labs in various buildings
  • Greater bandwidth for our school
  • Wired and wireless connectivity throughout the entire school
