The Support Teacher: Literacy and Numeracy (STLaN)
The Support Teacher: Literacy and Numeracy (STLaN) provides appropriate educational programs and resources for students who require additional support.
The support teacher’s role is:
to assess and evaluate students’ needs upon referral from the classroom teacher
to negotiate with class teachers the structure of the program provided
to provide support and advice to parents of students with learning difficulties
to provide a link between the school team and external support such as the guidance officer.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
The English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher assesses the needs and supports the teachers and parents of the recently arrived and Australian born children whose first language is not English. The main focus is language and communication as a premise for general learning.
Chaplaincy
The school chaplain is employed through Scripture Union Queensland and operates under the umbrella of the Centenary district Chaplaincy Committee, which incorporates a cluster of five local schools.
The chaplain provides additional support for students by providing "an ear" for willing students as well as coordinating structured programs based on friendships and relationships. The Chaplain also participates in lunch-time activities, supports leadership programs, participates in school functions and activities that enhance the school's values education program.
